This limited edition Sweet Shop centres the work of exporter Sookoo Coffee with two fabulous natural process coffees from Bookkisa and Shoondhisa in Guji, Ethiopia! Mill owner Ture Waji’s station in Shakiso produces the clean and jammy natural Ethiopian profile that we absolutely adore. In this blend, blueberry and chocolate notes create a flavour profile that is perfect for demonstrating to a new coffee enthusiast how distinct different processes and terroirs can be! Take this one home for your holiday celebrations and we bet you’ll pique the interest of friends and family.
Though both of these coffees are processed by the same mill, the cherries themselves come from producers in different kebeles (villages), showcasing microterroir. Natural-process lots from Bookkisa kebele are a recurring favourite for us, and this season, we detect soft strawberry notes and a pleasing pillowy texture. Shoondhisa kebele’s lot brings a slightly different profile. Fresh blackberry acidity and notes of red currant complement a smooth texture and the bergamot notes so emblematic of Ethiopian coffee.
